OOC - Keeping track of things

This is just Jen keeping track of the evidence for when it all clicks in-game, but obviously it hasn't yet. Note: add table-formatting.
CAN WE SAY CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT? HERE!
Current status: http://redrobinhood.livejournal.com/6279.html?thread=206215#t206215
* Note from the Hot Springs log, Smoke has fully acknowledged that he thinks Ghost is an attractive person, but had yet to push for any kind of a relationship beyond friendship before this thread
* Smoke realizes that Ghost is not quite as secure as he claims; posturing in public to give off the appearance of being experienced & together, but actually gets extremely frustrated when trying to make a point in the middle of a fast-paced debate such as when Clé and Smoke 'gang up on' him
* Ghost is open, but not experienced, and Smoke pushed the envelope just a little too much, going from teasing to outright embarrassing Ghost
* While he was miffed at not being allowed to be himself in public, Smoke didn't actually get mad until Ghost insulted himself by calling himself a big-mouthed asshole; Smoke berated him because he's already told Ghost he wasn't an asshole
* To clear the air, they decided to have a snowball fight, cue quicklog sub-thread
* Ghost confesses he gets mad when Clé gets the upper-hand in discussions purely because of her better writing/speaking skills
* Still feeling a little responsible, Smoke offers to let Ghost keep his journal for a few days and only get his info on what's going on in ES from Ghost during clean-up at the tavern every night
* They are now "best friends" - very important to Smoke because canonically he only has two (Hakkai - a very good friend - and Banri - a jerk) but Hakkai isn't around anymore and Bastet (his other "best friend" arguably) is taken
* Reference to 'Aurora is an asshole' and 'writing doesn't matter to me' is here - the previous time that Smoke got in trouble with Clé over the journals and embarrassed Ghost a little in the process
Dec 16 up to Dec 22: http://crownofsnow.livejournal.com/9876.html?thread=214420#t214420
* Discussions of gender, sexuality, attractiveness, and society's view on those things
* Comfortable use of ♥'s directed at Ghost for teasing purposes
* Bisexuality from both acknowledged
* Ghost acknowledging he thinks of himself as attractive; no self-image issues, whereas Smoke has some, but they're race-related, not attractiveness-related
* Smoke admits he knows he isn't human; Ghost replies that it doesn't matter and actually likes all the red
Dec 4 up to Dec 16: http://community.livejournal.com/edensphere_log/156367.html
* Physical crush/attraction acknowledged
* Emotional attachments put on hold due to Chosen's death, despite a hug [on the 10th]
* Clé's reply to Smoke [here]

Major Character Songs
GHOST
1) Activate :: Stellar Kart - Leader / Red Ranger / Feelings for Strangers / Moral Code Perfect Character Song!
2) Space Cowboy :: N*Sync - Fun personality / Primary dance song / Life back home ;; "Space Cowboy" = SPD (police units) ;; "Hey G" = Ghost ;; (for both) "Space" = Ghost / "Cowboy" = Smoke, "Up in outer space" = Ghost, "Like the wild, wild west" = Smoke (his group is heading west in canon as the original journey is called "Journey to the West")
3) Invisible Touch :: Gensis - Mainly a commentary on Ghost's powers, but also for both of them becoming starting to become attracted to the other without really knowing much about the other in the first place
4) High School Confidential :: Carole Pope - Ghost had closer to a "normal" life than Smoke, at least making it to High School before dropping out, and while he doesn't have a WTF over liking a guy (given the generally more politically correct nature of the PRSPD universe), it's still a newer concept for him than Smoke. Then there's that whole mutant thing that's always been comparable to the GLBT experience anyway.
5) Wannabe :: Spice Girls - Mainly tied to Ghost for crack reasons (see this SPD music video), there's also the fact that one of the things Smoke has to focus on now is learning more about Ghost through how he interacts with his friends (that Smoke doesn't already know).
6) I do [feat. Sonny of Payable on Death] :: Anastacia - Similar to Activate (Ghost #1), this song seems to emphasize a pain already experienced (Ghost's time surviving as an orphan and helping his fellow homeless) and then a hope for a more peaceful future despite how crazy the current world is, whereas Activate focuses more on action to create solutions to known problems.
SMOKE
1) To Be Loved (I Just Wanna Be Loved) :: Papa Roach - Hopeless Romantics R Us / Rough childhood manifestation Perfect Character Song!
2) Kountry Gentleman :: Family Force 5 - Smoke grew up in the country and it wasn't until his teen years he started living on the streets of the Chang'an, so he still retains some good ol' boy values
3) I Need A Man :: Eurythmics - a treatise on the fact that even though Smoke is a guy, if he likes another guy, it's not because the guy is effeminate. In the case of Ghost, he's quite masculine and Smoke likes it that way. ♥ ;; "I don't care about the way you look" is a reference to clothing style, not physical attractiveness ;; "I don’t need love" comes from Smoke's usual disposition of "love or sex" i.e. not both, which is to say it's very special for him when the two coincide~
4) Everything You Want :: Vertical Horizon - Smoke has acknowledged he likes Ghost's physical appearance, but then there's the whole side to the friendship that's growing into a deeper feeling with every new bit of crap the Sphere throws at them ;; "he means nothing to you / And you don't know why" is in the sense that Smoke hasn't yet discovered the desire for a romantic side to the relationship ;; "echoes of angels who won't return" is a reference to the people Smoke's lost and the time he broke down, but Ghost was there for support. (See IC Reason #2 and Smoke's Breakdown list)
*) Stand Out :: Tevin Campbell - The next step will be acknowledgment on Smoke's part of just how important what Ghost thinks about him is, in particular a complete disregard of his past (through lack of memories, but also reassurances from Ghost) that focuses simply on his uniqueness in a positive light, to the point that he (subconsciously) wants to be so 'out there', to have such a force of presence that Ghost can't help but 'notice' (become attracted) to him; what Smoke doesn't realize is it's already working. XP
5) Who Will Stop the Rain :: Asia - This is Smoke's song comparable to Ghost's Activate (#1 on his list) because where Smoke fights battles on a personal level (self-preservation, to help friends, and specific acts that his good morals don't allow him to ignore), Ghost fights them on a world-wide/culture-wide level. So when it comes to changing perceptions about hanyou (in Smoke's case) or mutants (in Ghost's case), Smoke is more disheartened about the possibility of it even happening, deeming it about as likely as someone being able to stop rain from falling.
6) Frozen [feat. Akon] :: Tami Chynn - When it does finally hit Smoke how much he likes / can love Ghost, it's going to hit him like a ton of bricks, so he'll probably be "frozen" in place for a little while until it all starts making sense to him, and he becomes truly happy about it, at which point all of the heating up between their physical attractions will manifest in the true red fire these two adults can enjoy; Smoke will possibly enjoy it more than Ghost (and thus fall in love faster) if only because he canonically has never experienced love, but "would like to, at least once" and thus has had many lovers (and become somewhat addicted to making out and the act of sex), but never truly loved anyone (it's questionable if he ever loved even his Mom or Big Bro); "Red One" is a call-out to Ghost specifically, who is associated both with the color red and the number 1 during his time as leader of the PRSPD forces.
7) Rebirth :: Hirata Hiroaki - character image song for Sha Gojyo of Saiyuki, meant mainly as a way to hear the way "Smoke" would sound speaking in English (since the anime is of course in Japanese) since the chorus is entirely English, not Engrish! 8O Actually good English! It's also got a lot of heart to it, regarding individuality and believing in yourself, which are things that Smoke has to be reminded about in ES since he was taught them (more like lectured at) by Sanzo in canon.
8) If You Want It To Be Good Girl (Get Yourself A Bad Boy) :: Backstreet Boys - Smoke's exhibitionist side coming out, basically championing himself as a master of pleasure; with more than a little bit of an ego behind it, it's also an offer to Ghost of what he can have in the gold-hearted bad boy. ♥
BOTH
1) Let It Rock :: Kevin Rudolf feat. Lil Wayne - How the boys have fun / karaoke Perfect Song, see description below!
2) Searchlights (Indoor Soccer) :: Falling Up - They can be strong for one another, tagging in to handle stuff when one needs a breather; the soccer analogy is especially hilarious given Ghost's actor's role in She's The Man (college soccer story).
*) Something More [Live] :: Bon Jovi & Sugarland and (the original) Something More :: Sugarland - As of Dec 13 08, describes the current situation; both men seeking answers, some of which coincidentally lie in one another, if they would just get to talking about it; both have a drive to experience better things (for themselves and others), but as of right now lack the memories to know quite where all of that energy should be directed; "some believe in destiny an' some believe in fate / but I believe that happiness is something we create / an' you best believe that I'm not gonna wait / 'cuz there's gotta' be somethin' more" references the first inklings of love.
3) Why Should I Worry? :: Billy Joel - Both guys came from the streets (poor & without families to support them) and live a fairly carefree lifestyle, Ghost with more street smarts and Smoke with more charisma
*) Have a Nice Day :: Bon Jovi - As easygoing as the guys are, they can be pushed too far. Just short of getting outright angry, they still won't budge on their decisions and - together - won't let the world bring them down. :-)
*) One Wild Night :: Bon Jovi - The rocking main theme song for Smoke's Tavern/pub/bar, especially opening night, since it's the most special, but also any special event nights as designed by Ghost, but with Smoke's stamp of approval of course. ♥
*) House Arrest :: Bryan Adams - Theme song #2 for Smoke's Tavern/pub/bar, for the usual antics of ever night; "I've gotta be guilty of havin' too much fun" references the sarcastic remarks from both Smoke & Ghost, since they're both all about having a good time.
4) With A Little Help From My Friends :: Across The Universe Soundtrack - Smoke's Tavern Theme Song #3, specifically closing time; a little drunk, a little high, but it's all good as they collapse into bed, fully expecting the next day to be more of the same and just as much fun.
5) Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Song (Rocked version) :: hayatebune of Youtube and He's a Pirate (Pete n' Red's Jolly Roger Trance Remix) :: Klaus Badelt, Redtop & Sneaky Pete - As adventurous as they both are, these remixes work too well for me, plus it's funny: Ghost's real name is "Jack" and Smoke's original voice actor (Hirata Hiroaki) did the Japanese dub of Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow in the movies AND Kingdom Hearts franchise. For Smoke, the "debt to pay" could be his karmic crimes in Heaven and thus he is "marked" with the red eyes/red hair as a hanyou. Of course, there's also the fact that Smoke, Ghost, and Jack Sparrow share that carefree attitude and love of the drink, though Smoke is more of the charmer and Ghost has street-cred. (See BOTH #3)
*) Social Disease :: Bon Jovi - One of the next steps yet to be seen in the relationship; "you can't start a fire without a spark... you can't hide when infection starts, 'cuz love is a social disease" referencing both Smoke and Ghost realizing that love isn't a bad thing, if nothing else because everyone wants to experience it so it's just a societal thing, and is in fact entirely possible for them; they just have to work at that whole 'relationship' thing.
*) Chained to You :: Savage Garden - another step yet to be developed; "Fascination casts a spell / and you became more than just a mystery / and I think about you all the time" referencing the intense emotions taking hold and reflecting in their interactions with one another, but without any cognizant action on either of their parts.
Karaoke Songs - so specific (and popular) that I can see Smoke and Ghost actually singing these songs (sometimes to one another) when everything comes together
K1) Let It Rock :: Kevin Rudolf feat. Lil Wayne - see Both #1
K2) Affirmation :: Savage Garden - ??
K3) What Makes You Different (Makes You Beautiful To Me) :: Backstreet Boys - ???
K4) Beer For My Horses [feat. Willie Nelson] :: Toby Keith - Just because the boys came from the streets doesn't mean they condone stealing or murder just for the sake of the act, i.e. true criminals; this is the kind of drinking song they'd sing with the entire tavern at least once a week, maybe once a night, because overall the tune is just fun to sing among a bunch of guys (and a few girls).
SMOKE'S BREAKDOWN OVER CHOSEN (AND RAN, AND TRUST, AND FULLMETAL)
1) Crash and Burn :: Savage Garden - With Death #4, Smoke broke to the point he had to deal with all of the deaths at once and just be done with it, but thankfully Ghost was around to make sure he didn't do anything too stupid (See IC Reason #2 & Smoke's List #4)
2) Rebirthing :: Skillet - Smoke's thoughts on those who've gone through an Edensphere rebirth and a reaffirmation of his desire to help ES people recover their pasts, then leave with them. This desire to return home may change when he figures out how much that world hates him.
3) Move Along :: All American Rejects - Now that Smoke's gotten the freaking out/crying/yellingout of his system, Ghost is ready to help distract him with other things - helping him help himself, and others affected by Chosen's death, not to mention defeating his own evil twin alongside Trust, his new partner in battle.
EVIL TWIN FIGHTS (THE POWER RANGERS, THEN SMOKE AND TRUST'S )
1) Give it all :: Rise Against - Smoke was apathetic about fighting before (sparring for fun, sure, but not for a purpose), but after Ghost was taken and then Smoke became Trust's Toujinshi (Battle Coordinator/Partner), his pride and power in a fight returned. Perhaps it even inspired the same in Ghost, who has yet to remember or indulge in his ability to fight, or even defend himself.

Imagine this music video as Smoke & Ghost (and clearly the dancing female is Bastet amidst her harem, because it sure as heck ain't Clé =^^= lol). Bonus there's fanart of Gojyo playing the guitar with the Saiyuki gang. Too bad I couldn't find anything for Ghost :( I guess the boys took lessons from Kanin & Alexi XDDD
Lil Wayne - see Both #1
K2) Affirmation :: Savage Garden - ??
