Did I miss the part of the party with sticky confetti? Because I keep trying to throw this little red piece away and it always manages to cling to my finger or pants or something so I can't. Thought it was time for a new lighter cuz the confetti piece wouldn't burn, but my cigs all light fine, so I dunno what's up.

On that note - thanks for my birthday present, bro. Should last me... awhile. Do I get to keep the bag? Did you make it?

[Of course the bit of red paper came along for the ride. Smoke couldn't help that, and figured Rain would want to see it anyway. He was glad that the snow was gone now - it made the trek out to Serenity that much easier to justify on a whim.]

[Rain didn't bother responding; he simply closed his journal and set it aside, then threw on a warm haori - it was still cool, even if not as cold as it had been - and headed out the back door and around to the front of the Spa. He leaned back against the wall, arms folded, and waited.]

Mm. [Rain wasn't taking time out of his day to talk about what Lin thought. He cut right to the chase.]

Let's see it. [Best to make sure it's the same thing before saying anything. If it was, he knew Smoke would definitely have it with him.]

[Smoke dug into his pocket and let the paper stick to the top of his index finger.]

And still warm. [He turned it over every which way looking for writing.] Don't see any words or symbols or anything else on it yet.

[Rain looked closely at the paper. It certainly appeared to be the same thing. All right then.]

It took a few weeks for them to appear. [He paused, glanced around, and lowered his voice a bit.] When they did, it said 'admit one' followed by a date.

Admit one? [Smoke repeated, looking down at the paper.] I heard about 'admit two' before... [He scrunched his face up] Wonder if it's the same thing.

I've heard of that one, too. Like I said, there are at least two different types. I believe the other gives a location rather than a date. [Rain hadn't gotten much out of Lin on the matter, but she'd mentioned a location and nothing else of note, so it was a reasonable conclusion that it was one or the other.]

[He hesitated briefly, before continuing.] On that date, I was taken to the fourth floor.

D'you mean like regular Fourth Floor see-something-that-looks-familiar, or the kind that shows you weird stuff you aren't familiar with at all?
