#35 - Racetrack and Animals whut?

Okay so I meant to ask this yesterday but I completely forgot.

On Sunday I was out at Melee Island and I saw a couple of WEIRD critters there. I mean, yeah they had horses and wolves...
[[drawings]]

And then there's these really weird things. Two look kinda like birds...
[[more scribbly drawings]]

And then... I have no freaking clue what this one is, but it KINDA looks like this...
[[yes this is a rhino, but he means a kodo -- and pretend there's no baby there]]

Anybody got an idea of what these last three are?

And by the way newborns - I can't believe I totally forgot about this - we have a racetrack! So apparently you race these creatures around it! It sounds like a lot of fun... and a gambling opportunity, too! ;D

[[OOC: A minor note, yes Smoke was taught a few emoticons way back when]]

Another threadjack. Sorry. D|

[Pen taps. He gathers his thoughts.]

The black ones will fly. I'm sure of it.

It's cool.

Which ones, the hexapods?

[pause. Most people won't know what that means]

The ones with six limbs?

[identity profile] heretic-hamlet.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Nay, good ser, the Chocobos; the tall birds. If you find naught else to your fancy, the black ones will fly.

Taming them, however, will be quite an endeavor, but should you succeed you'll have a wing like none other.

[identity profile] desig-survivor.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Will they? [you have his interest.]

I don't think I've ever tamed anything before - actually, I don't think I've had much to do with animals at all. Have you flown one?

What kind of acceleration do they have? Are they balanced, or nose- or tail-heavy? And how tough are they?

[...Rogue, they're not a new kind of starfighter.]

[Reed is hopelessly lost. Have some ink droplets.]

The black ones are lighter of frame than their cousins, but they're a handy mount all the same. They fly well even with a rider, and grow cooperative with time. My apologies, ser; my memory fails me beyond that.

Hmm. Well, thanks anyway. I think I'll see if I can compare their performance to the six-limbed things. No sense in committing myself to one or the other just yet. [whoops, he pinged himself]

[identity profile] inthecenterfold.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, what six-limbed things?

[identity profile] desig-survivor.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 11:11 am (UTC)(link)
The bird things you drew that have the tufted tails. You drew them with six limbs - four legs, two wings. Wings are limbs.

... OH! So you're talking about the one that's not the Coco-bird?

[identity profile] desig-survivor.livejournal.com 2010-01-21 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. I'm going to have to go there and look them over.

[identity profile] inthecenterfold.livejournal.com 2010-01-21 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
They look interesting - I guess they're called Griffons.
