#35 - Racetrack and Animals whut?

Okay so I meant to ask this yesterday but I completely forgot.

On Sunday I was out at Melee Island and I saw a couple of WEIRD critters there. I mean, yeah they had horses and wolves...
[[drawings]]

And then there's these really weird things. Two look kinda like birds...
[[more scribbly drawings]]

And then... I have no freaking clue what this one is, but it KINDA looks like this...
[[yes this is a rhino, but he means a kodo -- and pretend there's no baby there]]

Anybody got an idea of what these last three are?

And by the way newborns - I can't believe I totally forgot about this - we have a racetrack! So apparently you race these creatures around it! It sounds like a lot of fun... and a gambling opportunity, too! ;D

[[OOC: A minor note, yes Smoke was taught a few emoticons way back when]]

Chocobo? That sounds like a candy more than a bird.

And fine mounts they make, though they're aught but tame in the wild; I'd be on your guard should you cross paths with them again.

...Do you remember their colors?

[identity profile] inthecenterfold.livejournal.com 2010-01-19 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I think mainly yellow, but there were a bunch of types. Uh... red, black, green, blue, and shinier yellow ones too.

... And what are they gonna do, squawk me to death?

[identity profile] heretic-hamlet.livejournal.com 2010-01-19 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
The beaks are hardly for show; and they're not without their [Pause.] Talents.

Be especially wary of the ones colored red or black.

Sounds like ants - the red ones have a nasty bite and the black ones are just plain tough to kill.

shameless threadjacking

Aught but tame? I don't get such an impression from them.

[identity profile] heretic-hamlet.livejournal.com 2010-01-19 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
As far from time as they are from a songbird. A cat or dog may serve its master well but a bobcat or mongrel has no need or want for one.

[identity profile] mythgravenblade.livejournal.com 2010-01-19 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Very odd. I could swear they were docile as a lamb, if rather flighty.

[identity profile] heretic-hamlet.livejournal.com 2010-01-19 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
They are- once broken. Have you not crossed paths with them in the wild?

[identity profile] mythgravenblade.livejournal.com 2010-01-19 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Enter a chocobo forest and they'll practically lay their head in your lap, no wrangling required.

[identity profile] heretic-hamlet.livejournal.com 2010-01-19 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Surely you jape! I'd see you try that and have a beak through your gut!

[identity profile] mythgravenblade.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Assuredly I do not. The most fortunate will find a white chocobo, who would be glad to grant blessings and healing to you.

[identity profile] heretic-hamlet.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
I'd never seen one of such a color. Perhaps those are less aggressive...?

[identity profile] mythgravenblade.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps? Though I do not believe yellow or black ones are at all more or less aggressive. The latter can even be taken on short flights.

[identity profile] mythgravenblade.livejournal.com 2010-01-19 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that. I think they're pronounced differently, though.

[identity profile] inthecenterfold.livejournal.com 2010-01-19 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Ch... co... Sound similar to me.

[identity profile] mythgravenblade.livejournal.com 2010-01-19 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose if one is primarily familiar with the candy, they would.
