#35 - Racetrack and Animals whut?

Okay so I meant to ask this yesterday but I completely forgot.

On Sunday I was out at Melee Island and I saw a couple of WEIRD critters there. I mean, yeah they had horses and wolves...
[[drawings]]

And then there's these really weird things. Two look kinda like birds...
[[more scribbly drawings]]

And then... I have no freaking clue what this one is, but it KINDA looks like this...
[[yes this is a rhino, but he means a kodo -- and pretend there's no baby there]]

Anybody got an idea of what these last three are?

And by the way newborns - I can't believe I totally forgot about this - we have a racetrack! So apparently you race these creatures around it! It sounds like a lot of fun... and a gambling opportunity, too! ;D

[[OOC: A minor note, yes Smoke was taught a few emoticons way back when]]

Another threadjack. Sorry. D|

[Pen taps. He gathers his thoughts.]

The black ones will fly. I'm sure of it.

Enter a chocobo forest and they'll practically lay their head in your lap, no wrangling required.

[identity profile] heretic-hamlet.livejournal.com 2010-01-19 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Surely you jape! I'd see you try that and have a beak through your gut!

[identity profile] mythgravenblade.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Assuredly I do not. The most fortunate will find a white chocobo, who would be glad to grant blessings and healing to you.

[identity profile] heretic-hamlet.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
I'd never seen one of such a color. Perhaps those are less aggressive...?

[identity profile] mythgravenblade.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps? Though I do not believe yellow or black ones are at all more or less aggressive. The latter can even be taken on short flights.

It's cool.

[identity profile] desig-survivor.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Which ones, the hexapods?

[pause. Most people won't know what that means]

The ones with six limbs?

[identity profile] heretic-hamlet.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Nay, good ser, the Chocobos; the tall birds. If you find naught else to your fancy, the black ones will fly.

Taming them, however, will be quite an endeavor, but should you succeed you'll have a wing like none other.

[identity profile] kleptomonkey.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Chocobos!

[identity profile] desig-survivor.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Will they? [you have his interest.]

I don't think I've ever tamed anything before - actually, I don't think I've had much to do with animals at all. Have you flown one?

What kind of acceleration do they have? Are they balanced, or nose- or tail-heavy? And how tough are they?

[...Rogue, they're not a new kind of starfighter.]

[identity profile] heretic-hamlet.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Reed is hopelessly lost. Have some ink droplets.]

The black ones are lighter of frame than their cousins, but they're a handy mount all the same. They fly well even with a rider, and grow cooperative with time. My apologies, ser; my memory fails me beyond that.

[identity profile] desig-survivor.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. Well, thanks anyway. I think I'll see if I can compare their performance to the six-limbed things. No sense in committing myself to one or the other just yet. [whoops, he pinged himself]

How does you rides on a chicksen?

[personal profile] burnt_orangesky 2010-01-20 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
That lion-bird thing looks familiar in the way the unicorns were; like a mythical beast. A G [pen taps] a Griph Griffon? Something like that.

[identity profile] inthecenterfold.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like ants - the red ones have a nasty bite and the black ones are just plain tough to kill.

[identity profile] inthecenterfold.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty fit I'll have you know! I'm just really tall.

I dunno - they had to come from somewhere, right?

[identity profile] inthecenterfold.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, what six-limbed things?

[identity profile] inthecenterfold.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Griffon, huh? Sounds like a mouthful.

[identity profile] inthecenterfold.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno, but it's taller than us so that's a start - must have strong legs too I guess.

[identity profile] inthecenterfold.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Oh you know 'em too, huh? Man, way to make me feel like the only one who doesn't, folks.

Just kidding - you like 'em, don't like 'em, what?
burnt_orangesky: (Orly)

[personal profile] burnt_orangesky 2010-01-20 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose.

This racetrack is located on Melee Island? [Pause, a pen tap or two.] I will have to see these creatures for myself.

[identity profile] desig-survivor.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 11:11 am (UTC)(link)
The bird things you drew that have the tufted tails. You drew them with six limbs - four legs, two wings. Wings are limbs.

[identity profile] kleptomonkey.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
As long as you don't make 'em mad, they're really adorable!

[identity profile] brushismightier.livejournal.com 2010-01-20 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Just how tall is that? There's no way you could be that tall.

Well sure, monsters have SOME kind of origin but... what's it doing just hanging around waiting to be ridden. That's one messed up critter!

[identity profile] inthecenterfold.livejournal.com 2010-01-21 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
[[LOL XD A fair assumption]]

I've only known one other guy as tall as me. All of the doorways at my bar are 8 feet tall because I'm a little over 6 feet tall.
